When choosing a prenatal 💊, it’s not JUST about what’s in it..

…it’s also about what ISN’T!

Here’s what I avoid to ensure I’m getting the healthiest and best support for baby and me during 🤰

1️⃣ Low-quality forms of Nutrients: Most companies use cheaper forms of nutrients your body🧍‍♀️ can’t properly absorb. Instead ➡ I’m looking for methylfolate (not folic acid) and methylcobalamin (not just B12)

2️⃣ No Iron - While iron 💪 is essential, not all mamas need iron and excess iron can lead to discomfort or complications. Instead, iron should be taken on an as needed basis.

3️⃣ No Artificial Colors or Flavors 👅 - These additives can contain toxins linked to health concerns.

4️⃣ No Synthetic FIllers or Additives - These chemicals just aren’t good for you or your baby!

Psssttt..you’re going to want to read these ⤵️

1. You are in charge. Research everything - prenatal screens & testing, labor stages, birth interventions, breastfeeding, newborn routines, postpartum

2. A prenatal is not a cure all for bad health. Most of your nutrients should come from your diet.

3. Routine cervical checks are unnecessary

4. Your baby chooses her birthday - not your assigned due date

5. Your intuition will be your best guide if you let it

6. Take the picture! This season will go fast and you’ll want to remember it

7. Avoid people who fill you with birth fear and anxiety or traumatic stories

8. Daily movement and 360 breathing will be your friend

9. Set up postpartum boundaries

10. Your mindset will carry you through natural birth

BEFORE YOU COME AT ME.. 👇🏻👇🏻

I’m a private person and birth is intimate to me and I *wanted* it to be special and sacred between me and my husband.

But that doesn’t mean I was willing to go into my births and just cross my fingers 🤞🏻

Our bodies are made to birth!

👉🏻But we’re also made to be supported and be held and birth is too sacred to NOT be surrounded with love and support

So instead of hiring a doula, we got down to work..

🤓reading, listening, & researching everything we could get our hands on about birth and birth support

And we went on to have three beautiful unmedicated hospital births and one home birth 👶

I combined everything we learned and what I teach my doula clients into one easy-to-follow guide

Should you take a stool softener? 💊

Is it just me 🙋🏻‍♀️or does it seem like *everyone* makes it seem like the first postpartum 💩 is so scary?!

I mean they hand out stool softeners in the hospital like candy 🍬

👉🏻 but the truth is, there are so many more gentle, more natural methods that make the go more enjoyable

Ease the first postpartum poo ⤵️

🌿 Hydrate Like a Champ: Water is your best friend! Staying hydrated keeps things moving smoothly and helps your body heal.

🍓 Fiber-Rich Foods: Add foods like oats, berries, and leafy greens to your meals. Fiber helps make things softer and easier to pass.

🪑 Use a Stool: Literally! Raising your feet on a small stool (like a squatty potty) can put your body in a natural position, making it easier on your muscles.

🌼 Gentle Movement: Take short walks around the house. Movement stimulates your digestive system and can help get things moving without straining.

☕ Warm Beverages: Start your day with a warm cup of herbal tea or warm water with lemon. The warmth can help relax your intestines and promote bowel movements.

🚫 Avoid Straining: If you feel the urge, don’t hold back, but also don’t force it. If it doesn’t happen right away, try again later instead of straining, which can lead to discomfort.

🥣 Probiotic-Rich Foods: Incorporate foods like yogurt or fermented foods into your diet. Probiotics can help balance your gut and promote healthy digestion.

Your body is strong and capable! I promise you’ll get through that first post-birth poo like a pro.

They all have movement in common 💃

Movement during active labor isn’t just about comfort…

…it’s a way to help labor progress by easing your baby down and encouraging your body to open up

Gentle rocking, bouncing, and hip circles on the birth ball can help shift baby’s position for optimal birth position

👶 and when baby’s in optimal position, movement helps baby engage and put pressure on your cervix which allows for dilation and effacement

👉🏻 all of this means labor progress and getting to meet your baby!

Most birth ball 🏐 positions also relieve back pressure and allow for counter pressure and hip squeezes

P.S. these positions are also great stretches during the third trimester!
